Bartone and Schiller team-up in Getspeed Mercedes AMG
Long Island, Ny., (March 26, 2024) – Anthony Bartone (Miami, Fla.) will compete in the International GT Open Championship beginning with the series’ first event at Algarve International Circuit (Portimao) in Portugal on April 27-28. Bartone is teamed with Fabian Schiller (Germany) in the No. 9 Bartone Bros. Racing Mercedes AMG GT3 with Getspeed Performance car.
Bartone adds the GT Open Championship alongside his already-announced plans to run the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Championship. The GT Open Championship schedule is comprised of eight double-race weekends at epic tracks like Hockenheim, Spa, Paul Ricard, and the Red Bull Ring.
Bartone got his feet wet in the series last year when he competed at the Red Bull Ring this past September.
Schiller is a Mercedes AMG ‘Performance Driver’ and has competed in GT3 racing since 2018. The duo of Bartone and Schiller have already turned laps under the GT Open Championship banner this month when they took part in the series’ Winter Test at the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya on March 12.
“I am really looking forward to running with Fabian,” Bartone said. “During the test last week and throughout the Asian Le Mans Series he has helped me develop as a driver. It is a great opportunity to share a car with him as he’s a World Class driver and I am looking forward to learning as much as I can throughout the season.
“There are some great circuits on the GT Open calendar. I am excited to race at Monza and improve at the tracks that I’ve already driven like Spa and Paul Ricard.
“The races are only an hour, so it forces you to get after-it right from the drop of the green flag.”
Bartone Bros. Racing with Getspeed Performance will open the GT Open International Championship at Algarve International Circuit (Portimao) next month, April 27-28.
